The MiddleBrook™ Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Patent Strategy
MiddleBrook™ Pharmaceuticals, Inc. novel pulsatile dosing discovery is poised not only to change the course of antibiotic therapy, but could impact antiviral and antifungal progress as well. To ensure the comprehensive protection of our efforts and opportunities, we have implemented—and are continuing to enhance—a multi-level patent strategy safeguarding our pulsatile dosing approach throughout the industry.
The first level of “umbrella” patents is designed to protect the pulsatile delivery of general classes of drugs such as antibiotics or antivirals. “Sub-umbrella” patents comprise the second level, addressing subclasses of drugs like beta-lactam antibiotics. The third level of patents applies to specific pulsatile drugs.
This range of patents covers current and future innovations surrounding our intellectual property, including routes of administration, drug delivery technologies, and enhancements. MiddleBrook currently owns 25 issued and allowed U.S. patents and 23 U.S. patent applications, two forign patents, and 67 international patent applications.
